In 2010, director Joe Lynch recording of a supernatural action comedy added a LARP event in the forest, where a group of role players drink alcohol, smoke removed and accidentally unleashes a soul-sucking demon.
As if the action was geeky enough was also the lead roles possessed by some nerd the world’s most beloved actors:
Peter Dinklage from “Game of Thrones” (otherwise almost ready in a “Bad Santa”-like comedy), Ryan Kwanten from “True Blood” and Summer Glau from “Firefly” and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”
Lynch showed off a trailer and a clip at Comic-Con in 2011, and expectations jumped in the air. “Knights of Badassdom” hit the core audience perfectly, and was set to be a nice niche hit.
And then – nothing.
Røvede rights
What had happened? In 2012 specific site Video ETA decided to dig up the truth.
Short version: They found an accusation against the production company behind “Knights of Badassdom” Indie West, who claimed that the key people in the company had started another company, Media Society , to rob the film from those who originally had financed it.
When they later got Media Society CEO Wade Bradley, who said that the movie would come out in the first half of 2013 .
– Fans will be well compensated for the wait, he promised.
When asked why they had had to wait so long for the film said he was not directly other than that the film was still in post-production.
Meanwhile especially Dinklage become an increasingly bigger star by ‘Game of Thrones’ role as Tyrion Lannister, without it appeared to have few speed of the film’s release.

In March 2013 came more and kjipere, details to light. According to Bleeding Cool posted the site Badassdom.com the shady story (now removed) behind the postponement.
Way Bradley should be given control of the film was, according to Badassdom.com by running Indie Vest bankruptcy, then cut the film on own and try to sell it to a distributor.
Joe Lynch was particularly unhappy for tampering with the film, tweet including:
– To you who ask, let me be very clear: # IkkeMinVersjon.
Despite opposition snapept company eOne up the omklipte release last July, and now the words finally his cinema debut with a subsequent streaming release in February.
Poor Review
The site Shock Till You Drop seems to be the only one to have a review out yet, and according to them has not withstood the movie violent omklippen.
– A vision that has not reached its full potential. A few enticing chords in an incomplete metal ballad, writes reviewer Ryan Turek.
He gives the film four out of 10 and believes that narrative curve for lead actor Kwanten (including a love story with Summer Glau) does not work while the special effects seem unfinished.
The third act of the film is supposedly the one who suffered most under omklippingen, but not everything is as bad.
– Watch “good” attempt to shine through, especially in the film’s first half, Dinklage’s silly behavior and history of energy.
Unfortunately, the end result, according to Turek most of all frustrating, and he concludes:
– Let’s hope a version cut by the director will emerge.
