Game Dev Tycoon, pirates complaining about piracy - Eurogamer.se

developer Greenheart Games has used its unique position in full. The small developer consists of two two brothers Patrick and Daniel Klug, who yesterday released its game Game Dev Tycoon for PC, Mac and Linux on their site for 8 euros.

So this is a game that is to be to develop and sell the game, in the vein of Game Dev Story which was released the other year.

‘Can I develop a piracy protection or something?’

But while they opened their shop they also released a special version of the Torrent sites, and in that version, the player’s creations to piracy in such a degree that their company goes bankrupt.

After a day was 3104 of the 3318 Olympics that were running pirated, and the comments were not long in coming.

“I will no longer … HELP!” wrote one user in a now-deleted post on the Steam Greenlight page for the game. “I have come to a level where I’m creating a game for 9-10 in the ratings, but there are pirated so much that I do not earn any money.”

“Can I avoid it in any way and can I develop a piracy protection or something?”

Another user should have written “Why are there so many pirates? I am ruined!”

If you play the pirated version you will get a taste of your own medicine.

The developer says he is ready to cry over the irony, but announced at they are angry at those who pirated the game – just that they want people to buy their games.

‘s issue of the developers planned this as a marketing strategy from the outset, but one thing is for sure and that is that this is a clever and different way to get attention – no matter how similar Kairosofts original Game Dev Story it may be.

There is a demo version of Game Dev Tycoon, which can be downloaded here. And here’s the real version, for about $ 60.
