"Game over" for LucasArts - E24

Disney put down game producer LucasArts, according to Game Informer.

– After evaluating our position in the gaming market, we decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development model to a licensing model, said spokesman Miles Perkins Lucasfilm to your site.

Bought Lucasfilm

LucasArts is a subsidiary of Lucasfilm, as Walt Disney splashed out just under 24 billion last year.

acquisition of Lucasfilm was the first acquisition, Disney has done since they bought Marvel Entertainment for 4.24 billion dollars in 2009 (around 24 billion).

Star Wars creator George Lucas has stated that he has always envisioned that Star Wars would live on after his death, and that he therefore was keen to plan a transition.

Disney already controls the TV channel ABC, ESPN sports channel, the animation company Pixar and Marvel Entertainment (well known for Spiderman and X-Men).
