The Los Angeles Dodgers had their backs against their wall in Game 3 of the NLCS and they responded.
Hyun-jin Ryu, Brian Wilson and Kenley Jansen held St. Louis to four hits while shutting them out. Offensively, Yasiel Puig bounced back and had a two-hit night.
The series is now 2-1 and the momentum pendulum continues to swing freely.
FINAL
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
That’s it for tonight.
Tomorrow night, as of now, is Ricky Nolasco for the Dodgers and Lance Lynn for the Cardinals as the series rests 2-1 St. Louis.
I leave you with another example of the “No Fun Police” doing what they can to shut down the Dodgers.
Baseball is awesome, isn’t it?
For St. Louis going forward…
They need to address issues offensively. As I mentioned earlier, they have just six hits (two in Game 2, four tonight) in their last 18 innings.
Carlos Beltran has not recorded a hit since his game winning single in the 13th inning of Game 1.
Matt Holiday is 0-for-NLCS thus far and David Freese, a gamer before anything else, is day-to-day with tightness in his calf.
Looking forward in this series…
The Dodgers can afford to pitch Ricky Nolasco tomorrow knowing they can throw Greinke/Kershaw/Ryu in Games 5/6/7.
If they lose tomorrow, and go down 3-1 they could throw Kershaw in Game 5. Kershaw’s ERA at Dodger stadium is under 1.50 this season.
St. Louis may be saying “this was just one game” but it never is in the postseason. Especially when Wainwright goes down like that.
Having Skip Bayless around truly is a blessing. Say what you want about ESPN First Take, but the man makes very valid points, day in and day out.
An interesting stat regarding the Dodgers when Ramirez drives in runs.
FINAL
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Winning at home is all it takes early in a series and with the Dodgers win tonight, this series is just getting started.
FINAL
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Kenley Jansen gets Molina to ground out softly and the Dodgers take Game 3.
Top 9
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Matt Holiday just grounded out to Mark Ellis at second base. There are two outs.
It is worth noting that, as dreadful as the Dodgers offense has been, the Cardinals have six hits in their last 18 innings.
Top 9
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Carlos Beltran takes a 1-1 pitch and pops it up to A.J. Ellis for the first out of the ninth.

Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
While this is anything but a good angle, here is a look at the Crawford play at the plate.
Top 9
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Choate does his job, as he has throughout the NLCS, and gets Ethier swinging.
Kenley Jansen into the game for the Dodgers.
The Cardinals bring in Randy Choate, who gets Gonzalez to ground out.
The Dodgers now Ethier at the plate with runners on second and third with two outs.
In other news, this “rally bear” was escorted out of the stadium by security.
Bottom 8
Dodgers 3, Cardinals 0
Ramirez, lacking power at the plate, hits a bloop single into shallow center field.
Crawford makes a heads up play looking home all the way from second and he scores on a bang-bang play.
Bottom 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Ellis singles into left field and Ramirez comes up to the plate with runners on first and second, with one out.
Today is Seth Maness’ birthday, poor guy has to pitch to Hanley Ramirez.
The Cardinals bring in Seth Maness.
Maness forced hitters into 16 double plays during the regular season and would like to get out of this inning without facing Hanley Ramirez.
The St. Louis crowd was one of the loudest I had ever heard on a broadcast at the end of Game 2. Nice to know both fan bases are holding their own thus far in the series.
Crawford hits the ball into left center and despite diving for the ball, Jon Jay cannot come up with the ball.
Crawford is now on first with one out as the Cardinals make a pitching change.
Bottom 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Michael Young, on to pinch hit for Brian Wilson, led off the inning with a ground out. Crawford now up with one out.
As we head to the bottom of the eighth, all that seems to matter now is the top of the ninth.
Bottom 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Brian Wilson does what he has done since becoming a Dodger, shuts down the opposition. Carpenter ended the inning by striking out looking.
Wilson, in the postseason, has been out of this world.
Top 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Wilson bounces back, striking out Wong and Adron Chambers is now batting with one out for Wainwright.
Top 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Jon Jay takes the first pitch he sees up the middle for a single and Kolten Wong is pinch hitting for Pete Kozma
Top 8
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Yasiel Puig led off with a single, now 2-for-3 on the night, but was erased via a Juan Uribe double play. A.J. Ellis then grounded out, making it another quick inning for Adam Wainwright.
Wainwright is dealing, yet is in line to get the “L” tonight.
Bottom 7
Dodgers 2, Cardinals 0
Wainwright is still on the mound, facing Yasiel Puig to open the bottom half of the seventh.
With six outs left for St. Louis, the Dodgers will turn to the 1-2 punch of Brian Wilson and Kenley Jansen.
