The new award Skövde Academic Game Award has received its first winner.

ORVAR Säfström, moderator of Sweden Game Conference, presented all the nominations and short pitches of each game.
But it was of course the jury’s hard work that formed the basis for the nomination.
– Our motivation: With well-composed music and sound effects build up the game an atmosphere that captivates the player. Its artistic and unique expression marked by a sad tone that puts the feelings of swelling. We choose to reward an ambition to make something of their own, with the potential to develop game medium, said jury chairman Lisa Lindgren, brand strategist Skövde.
Viktor Blomqvist and Anton Thorsell on Tarhead Studios cheered obviously the award and the 20 000 crowns.
– This pushes us forward and inspires us to finish the game. We will be releasing the game on November 1st. The day after we have set it out on the big consumer fair GameEx in Stockholm. The money we will use to develop the game, but also for public relations and marketing, said Tarhead duo.
The five game projects / student team that was nominated for SAGA in 2013 were: Grief – Tarhead Studios, Magnetic – Boot it , Ribbon – Meadow Games, Robot Split – Watermelon Games, Paint the Arena – Paint of Irish.
jury commendation received Robot Split – Watermelon Games, with the motivation: “The jury’s honorable mention goes to a game with classical character. Well-designed puzzles with enough variation to constantly maintain interest for the next course. Challenging but with soft learning curve. “

The purpose of the award is to highlight and strengthen Skövde’s position as the gambling city nationally and at the same time encourage the talents of the University of Skövde. The goal is to make it clear to young game developers across the country to Skövde are dedicated in their efforts to promote young talents computer games. The award highlighted that the municipality recognizes game development as an important part of Skövde identity. The award is given based on the collaboration platform Sweden GameArena where Skövde, Gothia Science Park, University of Skövde and gaming companies in GSP collaborate to develop computer games industry in the gambling city Skövde. It is also from these actors jury appointed.
