Skövde Academic Game Award. It is the name of Skövde newly instituted award.
– The aim is to highlight and strengthen Skövde position that gambling city nationally and at the same time encouraging the talents of University of Skövde, says Katarina Jonsson, Mayor.
Games Skövde city continues to grow and is now the top 4 in the country for number of computer games company and number of employees. In Gothia Science Park to develop talented developers to full-fledged game developers with international status. Some examples are the Coffee Stain Studios, Stunlock Studios and Pieces Interactive. Common to the three companies is that they started by talented students at the University of Skövde and evolved into The Game Incubator in GSP.
Now, Skövde, in partnership with Gothia Science Park and University of Skövde, pay attention to talent in a concrete manner. Namely, through a newly instated Award – Skövde Academic Game Award, SAGA. As a reference for this new award is the most high-profile student competition in Sweden, KTH Swedish Game Awards.
– The goal is to make it clear to young game developers in the country that we are in Skövde are dedicated in our efforts to promote young computer game talent. We wish to highlight that the municipality recognizes game development as an important part of Skövde identity and award 20 000 to the winner of SAGA, explains Catherine Jonsson.
