Devil’s Third, the all-new action game from Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki and Valhalla Game Studios, is 80 percent finished and on track to launch in 2014.
“Next year will be the year we’ll be releasing the console game, Devil’s Third,” Itagaki told 4Gamers (as translated by Siliconera). “At the moment, it is about 80 percent complete, and we can about see the end of it. However, there’s still a little more polishing that needs to be done. That’s also one of the reasons I’ve decided to work independently.”
“For you fans out there, I’d like to apologize for making you worry,” he added. “We’ll be going all out next year, so please look forward to it.”
Devil’s Third was at one time planned for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though that was when the now-bankrupt THQ was signed on to publish the game. It is unclear if the game remains planned for those platforms, or if it has shifted to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Itagaki previously said that he had met with various companies to discuss a publishing deal for Devil’s Third, though it remains unclear which outfit has signed on. Valhalla Game Studios has major plans for the game, as it expects to expand the Devil’s Third property into other forms of media, including manga, novels, animation, and film, in an effort to spin the fiction into a “blockbuster franchise.”
